AI-powered athletic health intelligence built on the Everyday Balance® methodology — 25+ years of movement data, evidence-based prevention science, and machine learning that improves with every assessment.
Movement Intelligence That Prevents Injury
The Methodology
Everyday Balance® is the foundational methodology powering BetterAthlete — a systematic approach to athletic health that starts with what actually matters: preventing injuries before they happen.
Unlike typical fitness apps that focus on workout tracking or general health metrics, Everyday Balance® is built on a core truth: most injuries don't appear randomly. They're preceded by detectable patterns in movement quality, biomechanical asymmetries, and compensatory patterns that can be identified months in advance.
The methodology combines clinical assessment science (the SLS Protocol, FIFA 11+ evidence base, NASM CES/PES certification standards) with AI-powered pattern recognition and 25+ years of real-world movement data from thousands of NYC athletes. The result: the most predictive injury prevention approach available today.
What sets it apart: We don't gamify your movements or guess at your risk. We measure what matters, with the precision of a clinical assessment and the accessibility of mobile technology.
Core Principles
Identify injury risk before symptoms appear, not after they've sidelined you.
Prevention plans tailored to your unique movement profile, not generic workouts.
Movement quality monitored over your entire career — not just one season or one test.
Built on FIFA 11+, NASM standards, and peer-reviewed movement science — not trends.
Athlete-friendly home assessment format that scales from individuals to entire organizations.
Results integrate with coaches, trainers, PTs, and physicians — one source of truth for athletic health.
Platform Architecture
BetterAthlete™ is a multi-layer intelligence platform. The clinical assessment establishes the baseline — but the full picture only emerges when every layer is working together: movement protocols, continuous monitoring, biometric inputs, lifestyle data, and iterative reassessment. The outcome is Everyday Balance® — a precise view of what's working, what isn't, and exactly where an athlete's time and effort should go.
The Dual-State Methodology
The EA SLS Protocol measures movement quality under both unloaded and loaded conditions — and the differential between those two states is our proprietary injury risk signal. Most platforms measure one state. We measure both, because the gap between them is where injury risk lives. This Dual-State approach applies across the full multi-protocol assessment engine, not just the SLS.
Why Every Layer Changes Everything
A clinical assessment tells you where an athlete starts. Monitoring tells you how they're responding day to day. Biometric inputs explain why. Reassessment confirms whether the prescription is working. Each layer adds context that changes the meaning of every other layer — and removes the guesswork from every decision a coach or athlete makes. That's what Everyday Balance® is: all five layers, unified.
The Assessment Engine · Layer 01
BetterAthlete™ is not a single-protocol app. The assessment engine draws on a range of clinical tools — the EA SLS Protocol is one example. What distinguishes every protocol in the engine is the Dual-State methodology: assessing movement quality under both unloaded and loaded conditions. The differential between those two states is our proprietary injury risk signal — the number no other platform is currently measuring.
Clinical Measurement · Four Core Tools
BetterAthlete™ doesn't build intelligence from generic fitness metrics. Every data point the platform benchmarks over time comes from clinical-grade assessment tools — the same instruments used in elite sport and research environments. This is what separates EA monitoring from wearable-only platforms.
Bilateral ground reaction force measurement during single-leg squat and jump tasks. Captures power output, force asymmetry, and landing mechanics — both at rest and under fatigue. The core of the Dual-State Protocol.
Bilateral eccentric hamstring force measurement — the single most predictive variable for hamstring strain injury. Precise, repeatable, and directly mapped to each athlete's injury risk score over time.
Isometric hip abductor and adductor strength. Critical for groin, ACL, and lower-extremity injury risk — and one of the most under-tested variables in youth athletes. Tracked against baseline at every reassessment.
Markerless kinematic analysis measuring knee valgus angle, trunk lean, and hip drop during functional tasks. Visualizes movement quality that force data alone cannot capture — and flags compensation patterns early.
The Monitoring Layer
Clinical assessment establishes the baseline. BetterAthlete™ tracks changes continuously — HRV, readiness, training load, and biomarkers — flagging when re-assessment is needed before injury has a chance to develop.
Risk Classification · GYR System
Every athlete who completes an EA assessment receives a risk classification based on composite scoring across force asymmetry, movement quality, fatigue response, strength deficits, and injury history. In BetterAthlete™, that classification becomes the athlete's daily RISK zone — updated continuously as monitoring data comes in.
No significant risk factors identified. Athlete is cleared for full programming. BetterAthlete™ maintains baseline tracking and flags any change in readiness or load tolerance.
One or more risk factors present. Programming is modified and monitoring frequency elevated. BetterAthlete™ surfaces this athlete daily to the EA coach for review — not just at reassessment.
Significant findings require individualized review, a referral recommendation, and a targeted intervention plan. BetterAthlete™ coordinates the clinical network — EA, PT, sports medicine — around this athlete's data.
Why this matters: Most monitoring apps track metrics without context. BetterAthlete™ classifies athletes before monitoring begins — so every data point is interpreted against a clinical baseline. A drop in HRV from a Yellow-zone athlete means something different than the same drop from a Green-zone athlete. The system knows the difference.
The App Experience
GYR classification isn't a one-time result — it becomes the lens through which every day's data is interpreted. Each morning, athletes check their readiness score, HRV, and protocol tasks. Coaches see every athlete's current zone at a glance. The dashboard makes the clinical picture visible and actionable every single day.

The EA Methodology · Where BetterAthlete™ Fits
BetterAthlete™ is the monitoring and intelligence layer within the EA methodology — not a standalone fitness tracker. It is purpose-built to make EA's clinical assessments more powerful over time by connecting what is measured once to what changes every day.
Clinical-grade force platform, eccentric, and kinematic testing. The data foundation every prescription is built from.
HRV, sleep, training load, readiness, and biomarkers tracked continuously between assessments — creating the intelligence layer.
BetterAthlete™ Lives HereSystematic injury prevention — FIFA 11+, neuromuscular protocols, load management — authored from assessment and monitoring data.
Prescription-driven athletic development — speed, power, strength, and endurance progressed against real monitoring data, not schedules.
Biomarker-informed return-to-sport, coordinated across EA, PT, and sports medicine. The six-phase return model tracked in the platform.
The Technology
Deep learning models trained on thousands of movement assessments to identify patterns, compensations, and injury risk with medical-grade precision.
Machine learning algorithms that forecast injury likelihood based on movement quality, historical data, and longitudinal tracking — improving accuracy with every new assessment.
Algorithmic generation of corrective and prevention protocols based on each athlete's unique movement profile, not generic exercise libraries.
25+ years of de-identified movement assessments, injury outcomes, and demographic data for normative benchmarking and continuous model improvement.
Medical-grade encryption, role-based access controls, and audit logging to ensure athlete health data is secure, private, and shareable only with explicit permission.
Incoming 2027: Integration with wearable sensors for real-time biomechanical feedback and continuous injury risk monitoring during training and competition.
